(May12, 2011) Over the last week or so, I have heard about several things going in the wrestling scene. Some of it funny, for example on the funny see this story www.declarationofindependents.net/doi/pages/vinnyretard5811.html This kid Vinny the Guido brings all this stuff on himself. I have met the kid, I know his old boss at his old job. This kid is a walking advertisement for birth control. It's about time someone knocked this goof on his ass.
Now, some of what is making me shake my head & actually a little angry stems from the accident involving Shane Helms. I wouldn't call Shane a good friend or anything but, rather an aquaintance, someone I've been in the ring with but, I wouldn't consider him an enemy. So when I see things like this www.declarationofindependents.net/doi/pages/deblasikkarma.html it's a little disturbing. Yes, Osama Bin Laden, a terrorist, the mastermind behind 9/11 got what was coming to him. As much of a joke as Vinny the Guido is & yes he got what was coming to him, he isn't in the same class as Bin Laden. But, because police asked for a blood test to determine if Helms had been drinking on the night of his accident, which is standard procedure in accidents like this in the state of North Carolina, & even if someone is claiming they saw him take a drink or two before leaving the restaurant, bar, whereever it is he was, how does this put him in same class as the other two..especially Bin laden?! .08 is the legal limit in North Carolina so, until the blood test comes back, we can't say for sure, at this point, he even had a drink, let alone was drunk!!
And I'm not really picking on the DOI here, as I have seen talk on other messgae boards along the same lines. All the facts aren't in on this one just yet so, can we all just reserve judgement? At least until the test results come back or he is charged with something?
Granted, Matt Hardy didn't help Shane's cause with this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmV37jotGqw. As Hardy during his feud with the WWE leading up to his release really turned himself into a joke. Matt Hardy is talented, does ave a good fan base, and he's a mark for himself, I've been accused of that too but, dude crying to the internet worked for you when you were released during the whole Lita/Edge thing but, the sycophants you had during that campaign, were not behind you the second time around. You are floundering in TNA, which I tried to be a supporter of, is now just a sinking ship trying to do it's best to stay afloat. Your brother, Jeff, destroyed the main event of a PPV but, somehow still has a job. At this point, I tend agree with the DOI, that Dixie Carter is on drugs! She must have been hitting the crack pipe with Jeff before his match with Sting to still even be in the minds of TNA management. I really wanted TNA to succeed but, once Hogan & Bischoff came in & TNA became WCW V.2 or WWE lite, I just can't seem to give them any more passes. Russo has needed to be out of the wrestling business ever since his WCW debut. Bischoff was a good on air talent in WWE but, when in any position of power he falls flat on his face.
Paul Heyman wouldn't be TNA's savior either. Yes, he did tremendous things with ECW but, at the end of the day, it went under too! Jim Cornette didn't have any power in TNA, he was just an on air talent. I actually liked Smoky Mountain & would have liked to see Cornette with the booking power but, see Paul Heyman. SMW crashed & burned too! Ring of Honor has more scandals than the Kennedy family. So, there really is no viable equal to WWE. Like it or not, WWE is on top to stay. TNA is clearly the number 2 promotion and the only other televised option to WWE, in MOST markets. I know indys around the country have some TV but, until they are national, they really aren't a viable option for the bulk of the wrestling fans. My promotion, when on TV, aired in the bulk of southeastern North Carolina but, outside our little portion of the state, we weren't an option. So, indys with TV are only an option regionally.
Anyway, time to step off the soapbox. I just hate to see Shane Helms convicted in the minds of a few dirt sheet writers before all the facts are in. Guys like Vinny The Guido deserve what they get as they bring it on themselves but, for the others, let's wait on the facts please.
